The spring mushroom levels were my favorite ones to speedrun because they become entirely about *not* using the spring. I think you only actually need it in the 3rd mission very briefly.

The gravity stuff too in Galaxy was juuust finicky enough to make weird shortcuts possible. That was a big draw for me.
The 100% run used the spring when I played it. Maybe thatβs changed in the last, uh, 6 years. any% doesnβt use the spring at all though.
